Analysis of Errors of Coal Quality Monitors
نویسنده
چکیده
On-line nuclear meters have been in use in the coal industry for many years. They have been utilised for coal quality monitoring, in the control systems for coal blending, or for separating coals in the heavy media separation process. Their operation is based on the scattering or the absorption of incident gamma radiation, and the derived density or ash value is the result of a time-averaged measurement. In this paper, errors of ash monitors have been analysed. These errors appear due to several reasons: measurements are performed on samples which inaccurately represent a whole mass of tested coal, measuring methods are sensitive to variations in chemical composition of ash, size distribution of coal and moisture content. The signal from the radiation detector has to be averaged over a long period of time which results in delay of measuring results. Copyright © 2005 IFAC

I-4: External Quality Assessment - A Necessity in The Andrology Laboratory
Andrology laboratories need to produce reliable results for appropriate diagnostic and health care decisions. Since semen analysis is highly complex and procedurally difficult to standardize, quality control (QC) is essential to detect and correct systematic errors and high variability of results. The large discrepancies between assessments of sperm concentration and morphology in different lab...

متن کاملEstimation of coal proximate analysis factors and calorific value by multivariable regression method and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS)
The proximate analysis is the most common form of coal evaluation and it reveals the quality of a coal sample. It examines four factors including the moisture, ash, volatile matter (VM), and fixed carbon (FC) within the coal sample. Every factor is determined through a distinct experimental procedure under ASTM specified conditions. These determinations are time consuming and require a signific...
متن کاملLow cost air quality monitors to evaluate nanosized particulate matter. A pilot study
Particulate matter is defined as a mixture of airborne solid particles and liquid droplets that can be inhaled and may cause serious health problems. Such elements are currently measured utilizing air quality monitoring devices that provide information on PM 10 and PM 2.5 levels giving information on pollution levels. However, many difficulties are encountered in the determination of nanosized ...
متن کاملPower Quality Monitor Placement Using a Tri-level Approach
Finding minimum number of connecting lines is as important as locating power quality monitors (PQMs) for full observability of power system. Therefore, a PQM placement method should determine both optimum buses and lines, since utilities can make better decisions for monitoring of power system with this information. This paper attempted to propose a new method to locate the PQMs at various unob...
